TLDR; Garrett Higgins, 23 years of Age, Enjoys Gaming, Enjoys Community, Has identity issues
Hello everyone! I am Garith O'Hugh, I am a leader and founding member of the Merry Band of Gentlemen. This is a fact in which i take much pride, as i derive an enormous amount of joy from this community. We have a great group of talented people, and i am proud to be part of the shenanigans that take place.
Now down to business. I Was born Garrett Higgins, during the year 1991, in the tenth month, on the fifteenth day. My early life is boring so i'll skip right to the relevant parts. Ive gone through many phases in gaming, and the names i chose reflect them. My first IGN(In-game-name) was chosen for me, credit goes to Danny, due to his action i was then known as "Gcheilan" A clever (we thought so at the time) conjunction of my initials and a bit of creativity. This character was however doomed to evil soon after it's creation, for in these days, there were few who were appropriately wary of friends, and this first and poor runescape character fell to the sharp and vicious theft of so-called "borrowing". Middle school was tough on the "e-generation" and that first lesson was hard learned. As the years rolled forth i was known by a plethora of identities on runescape, but i primarily used "Oculus 3" Long did he live, "SEEING" his enemies driven before him, and excitedly fidgeting when he crit.
Eventually after much convincing my family became the owners of a computer that could play games that utilized the source engine (Used as benchmark). This ushered in an age of new-found experiences, opening my mind to the first utterances of "mother fucker", "Shit-fuck", "Cum-dumpster" and others. At the time, i was lacking of certain accessories, that privatized the auditory experience. and Counter-strike was shelved for many months as a result. Fortunately, my gaming career did not end there, i had some years ago rented a Nintendo 64 game with the title "Starcraft" It was game the likes of which i had never seen. I appeared to control not one hero, but many, and when they died, It wasn't game over! I could just make more! It Was amazing! As the rental time ran out and it was returned i was sad, i had begged my mother to let me rent it again, but that would have been a "waste of money". I thought to my self "I'm thirteen, i've got like $60 from my birthday, I could BUY this game right?" So on the next trip to the grocery store(Wal-mart), i went. I purchased the "battle chest" which included the expansion pack! FOR PC!! Which i thought was glorious. I created my next prominent in-game name "l)ark_Predator" a name that would follow me for almost a year! I played with my best buddy Dannydandandaniel and for a while we were happy, losing 80% of matches, and just generally playing custom matches that weren't designed for us to win anyways.
Some time later, specifically my freshmen year of high school i returned to Counter-strike but this time it was "source" whatever that meant. I spent every single afternoon of freshmen year playing CSS. Classic, Jailbreak, Deathrun, Surfing, it didn't matter. And with my new headset my family couldn't even yell at the profanity! Life was great. I even got pretty good, at one point playing on competitive servers. But like all things that are abused, something came along and ruined my ability to play FPS. A flight of stairs, and its removal of carpet. Yes, i fell prey to a vicious remodeling incident that would claim the health of my upper torso. Short version, i slipped, ruptured three discs, in the time after the extrusion pushed on some nerves, killing them and lessening my feeling in my hands and killing my reaction time. After that shooters weren't as fun to me, i have since learned to love shooters again, but i still don't feel that i could play them at the "semi-pro" level.
Despite this, or perhaps because of this, i did not give up on pc gaming, i instead shifted my focus to RPG's and single player experiences. This had the effect of greatly enriching my mind, and creating a taste for lore, a love of storytelling, and exposing me to a side of gaming i did not know existed, and as before, my IGN reflected that change. I returned to my roots, paying homage to my still best friend Danny. Adding a twist, I became known as "Gcheilan Longshot" I became so invested in this conceived character and his exploits that i even wrote a novel about him. But that was just it, it was about him, and not me. Found myself playing MMO's as this character and falsifying details of my life, justifying it as "the character's dialogue" As a result, this was one of my more short lived IGN's (At about the same time i was also known as "Seleniqe" A female gamer with no headset ;D), Eventually i grew tired of living the lie, and came clean, costing me a community of online friends and a dark descent into a journey of identity. After i emerged, i was Garith O'Hugh The name represents me best, in my opinion, for it encompasses all of my life experiences thus far.
Garith O'Hugh, this name is best because it is my actual name, albeit made archaic for uniqueness. Garrett is the modern version of Garith. The "Higgins clan" of which i am a part of, are direct descendants of the "O'Hughes" and the "Boyds". So it acurately represents me historically, it blends enough fantasy that it still seems prestigious, and it fits in nearly all settings, If i get back into role-play on the g-mod server (which is likely) this name can suit nearly any time period and any role. With the new name i have also shed any and all misnomers about myself, and have uttered naught but truth about my person since adopting it. Might not be what you were expecting to read, but i took the "Meet Garith O'Hugh" Kind of seriously, and i don't think anyone can truly know him, know me, unless you understand how we were created.
